Practice Spotlight: Simplicity Health

Simplicity Health is Direct Primary Care. The practice is a membership model only and is not contracted with insurance companies. However, many of their patients have insurance which is helpful when they need to be referred to a specialist. Patients with good insurance choose Simplicity Health because they offer a concierge practice model with 4 different member tiers. Patients have direct contact with Dr. Charles Opperman and he can be contacted at any time. The practice books patient appointments for up to 1 hour. The practice is limiting the patient panel and will accept up to 300-400 patients. (Currently over half full).
Patients with high deductibles or that are completely uninsured often save money with them through their pharmacy and in-house labs. These services are given to patients at cost, as part of their membership. For example, a CBC, CMP, Lipid panel, TSH, and Hemoglobin A1c would cost well over $1k with the local hospital systems. The cost through Simplicity is $29 for the entire panel of blood work. They charge the patients, ship the blood work off to a local Lab company, and then the Lab Company bills them.
They also have over 150 medications in stock which are dispensed directly from the office. All generics range from Lipitor to antibiotics to depression meds to creams. The most expensive medication stocked is around $7/month. They’ve had numerous situations where patients have paid the cost of their entire yearly membership through the savings, they receive through their pharmacy services.
The practice is always interested in finding better value options for their patients without insurance or with HDHP. Please visit their website for more information about membership pricing and services.
