Wright State Physicians celebrates three members of our team recognized in Dayton Business Journal’s “Health Care Heroes for 2022”! DBJ named 17 total honorees over four categories (Innovator, Manager, Provider, and Patient Experience).
PROVIDER – David Dhanraj, MD, CMO WSP, and Chair, WSUBSOM/WSP OB/GYN
Dr. Dhanraj’s leadership and clinical expertise continue to bolster WSP OB/GYN practice in Oakwood, at FRHC, and cover the 24/7/365 L&D / Emergency Gyn Surgery coverage at MVH. Under his guidance the practice continues to grow, adding three providers under his short tenure, and sets the bar for clinical operations and employee satisfaction. Dr. Dhanraj was recognized this spring by Dayton Magazine as Dayton’s Best Doc, selected based on votes by the community, “Best doctor I’ve ever had! Thank you, and to the whole practice for taking such good care of me!”

PATIENT EXPERIENCE – Casey English, LPN, Clinical Coordinator, Internal Medicine
Among other duties, Casey English manages our entire Infectious Disease provider operation. Since the COVID-19 pandemic kicked off, our Infectious Disease providers have been incredibly busy. They all report that she is purposeful and timely in getting patients in as soon as possible while proving mindful of the provider’s schedule. She is intentional about making sure the providers have absolutely everything they need prior to each patient visit. Casey has built relationships with area hospitals and healthcare agencies to enhance WSP patient care and go above and beyond finding community resources for patients when needed. “I have worked with many nurses in my 18 years of practice and Casey is far and away the best. She takes patient care very personally, and advocates getting patients seen in a way that is still feasible for physicians. I hope that Casey is with me for many more years to come.” — Steven Burdette, MD

MANAGER – Terri Zalat, Surgery Site Manager
Terri Zalat’s scope of influence includes our two ambulatory Surgery locations along with our far-reaching surgery practice that includes exclusive L1 Trauma and EGS call at MVH, exclusive L3 Trauma and EGS call at MVHS, along with L3 UVMC call, ongoing general surgery and breast surgery practices in all regional hospitals, and, of course, our academic offices for the surgery UME and GME missions. During her tenure, she continues to find ways to mold a cohesive unit to support this very busy and very disparately located set of clinical and academic practices. During the height of the pandemic, neither surgery site closed or experienced issues regarding seeing patients due in large part to Terri’s managerial efforts. As a result of Terri’s leadership and influence over patient care, WSP has had multiple surgeons voted by the community to Dayton Magazine’s Dayton’s Best Docs or the past two years. Terri’s support of her team, and the entire organization, is unwavering. We are very fortunate to have her on our team!
